Tullibardine started developing its Angus stud in late May last year when they purchased 30 registered cow and calf units from the Ballawinna stud.
Alastair said the opportunity to buy the Ballawina cows was one that was too good to pass up.
There are very few Angus studs in the area.

The Murrays aim to get the herd up to about 100 cows and as a result of buying calves at foot, they will have their first bulls available for sale in 2008.

Diamond Tree Frontier A98

Tullibardine has already boosted its recently purchased Angus herd buying Diamond Tree Frontier A98 for $20,000 earlier this year.
Alastair said not only did he inspect the bull and liked what he saw but he also inspected the mother, grandmother and the rest of Diamond Tree’s female herd, which duly impressed him.
Alastair said the bull had great muscling, good shoulders, depth and volume and was very well put together.
His raw EMA scan of 111cm2 is also very good for an Angus.
Frontier A98 who was sired by B/R New Frontier 095 and out of Diamond Tree Walk On W44 had EBVs of +6.8 for birthweight, +44, +79 and +107 for 200, 400 and 600 day weight, +9 for milk, +56 for carcase weight, +2 for EMA, +1.2 for RBY, +0.5 for IMF, and -0.29 for NFI.
His indexes were also impressive with values of +$78 for the Jap B3, +$64 for CAAB, +$59 for supermarket and +$60 for the northern terminal index.
